MGP 2008 what can be doneI thought that the MGP was very quite this year, for what ever reason...foot and mouth....course license....cost......etc
There even seems to be a lack of interest from people/organisations usually associated with the event....even DUKE are not making a video/dvd this year.
The MGP needs a profile makeover to progress, in days gone by the MGP officials used to visit UK based circuits promoting the event, could the lack of visits these days also be seen as a lack of promotion.
To add to the gloom there were many rumblings that the Paton (winner Senior Classic) was using a wheel rim and tyre outside of the rules. Despite questions asked no one seems to provide an answer and with the announcement that they will return in 2008 to celibrate their 50th year, will that diswayed the few competitors left.

Manx GP07I went to the Manx this year and I did think it was very quiet as we went around all the usual spots on the Island but I have to say I thought that it was busier than normal for watching the racing. We last went in 2003 and I thought there were considerably more people watching this time and there were many people along the banks as we bombed along the course to get to where we wanted to watch before the roads closed.
I also heard about the issue with the Patton. I heard that Ryan Farquhar was bood at the award giving ceremoney. There is alot of info about this the issue with his tyre being over sized on the Official TT Website, or at least there was before the Manx forum disappeared.
I do find that the Manx doesn't appear to get very much publicity at all, it wasn't covered in the Motorsysle News and there wasn't really anything anywhere. My mate who lives on the Island said its because the Manx has had some serious accidents over recent years and the IOM doesn't want the publicity of them being splashed all over everywhere on top of the TT.
There is some good info on this site on the Manx 07 in the Road Racing Section.
Maybe we can get this site to have the official Manx Forum on it or we could start one ??

FarquarDidnt hear any boo'ing just silence and cheering from the 'Paton crowd'.
Its a shame the MGP and the TT for that matter experiences questionable rule applications, I would of thought the rules were black and white particularly with Mr Hanson in charge......
Its odd that although there are many comments made on 'other' web site forums no official response is placed.
I will still return though its a fantastic event and a fantastic circuit to ride.
As there is no MGP site anymore perhaps this site can sort something out?

This SiteWhat changes would you like to see on this site to help it support the Manx more?
How about a Manx Specific Forum and more past info and results?

Many thanks for the suggestion.
