THE Senior Manx Grand Prix has been won by Adam Barclay following a thrilling race on the Snaefell Mountain Course this afternoon.
The Pembroke man took victory by 11 seconds from James McCullagh after the two riders diced and exchanged the lead throughout the two-lap event.
Barclay made the early running, leading by 0.3s at Glen Helen, before McCullagh came back strongly to build a lead of just under 2s by the time they had reached Cronk ny Mona.
However, Barclay dug deep to lead at the Grandstand by 1.87s only for McCullagh to get his nose in front once again at Glen Helen on the second and final lap.
By the time they had reached Ramsey Hairpin, Barclay had snatched the lead back and held on to top spot over the Snaefell all the way to the finish line, reaching the Grandstand agonisingly close to a 120mph lap with 119.996mph.
Irishman Mickey Fitzpatrick claimed fourth place ahead of Scott Wilson while Noel Patterson took fifth.
After a series of delays this morning, roads closed at 1pm and Friday's postponed race programme eventually began 45 minutes later.
However, that race was soon stopped after oil was spilled on the track from the Grandstand to Ago's Leap.
Around 30 riders had left the Grandstand for the three-lap race. They were stopped at Kirk Michael before returning to the start line for a 2.45pm restart
